Bus driver charged after rollover in Ontario town leaves 17 injured

A bus driver has been charged following a rollover accident on Highway 17 near Wawa, Ontario, that left 17 passengers hospitalized, according to police. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. Tuesday when the passenger bus veered off the road, rolled onto its side, and came to rest in a ditch. Emergency services responded to the scene, where they found 17 individuals with minor injuries who were subsequently taken to the hospital and released.

Following the investigation, police charged the driver with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. However, authorities have not disclosed the driver's identity or the specific circumstances leading to the crash. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate at the scene, where crews are removing the bus.
