Navarro, who has previously called India a laundromat for the Kremlin, stated that he was "firebombed" with "nasty" little attacks on the internet due to an opinion piece he wrote for the Financial Times.

He urged those abusing him not to resort to such tactics, emphasizing that it is not how problems are solved in America. Navarro's criticism of India extends beyond the oil purchase from Russia, as he also claimed that Brahmins were profiteering at the expense of the rest of India. This latest remark came as he referred to the Russia-Ukraine conflict as "Modi's war," arguing that the money earned by Russia through oil sales is used to fund its war machine in Ukraine.
