Bersama sees rise in membership after Negeri Sembilan polls

Bersama, a political party, experienced a significant surge in membership after the Negeri Sembilan elections, where Pakatan Harapan faced defeat at the hands of the Barisan Nasional-Perikatan Nasional alliance. As of the latest count, the party boasts around 29,200 members, with the majority of these new recruits having no prior association with any political party.

According to Rafizi Ramli, the leader of Bersama, 60% of the party's members were first-time political party joiners, continuing to make up the majority of daily membership applications.

Following the Negeri Sembilan election on August 1st, a sharp increase in membership applications was observed. Among the current members, 25% were former members of the People's Justice Party (PKR), while 15% belonged to other parties, primarily Malay-based organizations such as Umno, PAS, Bersatu, Pejuang, and Amanah. Less than 1% of Bersama's membership came from former members of the Democratic Action Party (DAP).

Regarding the potential influx of new MPs joining Bersama, Rafizi mentioned that he could not predict their actions. Notably, Wong Chen, a former three-term MP who had spent 17 years with PKR and recently resigned in his Subang constituency, joined Bersama today.
