Alice & Bob to work with European network on quantum error fixes

Alice & Bob, a quantum computing company, has announced a partnership with Qubric, Europe's pioneering Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) doctoral network focused on quantum error correction. Qubric unites 16 universities and seven quantum companies across Europe, including ETH Zurich, TU Delft, UCL, INRIA, Riverlane, and IQM, to recruit and train 15 doctoral researchers over four years.

Supported by €4.6 million from Horizon Europe's MSCA programme, the network aims to cultivate researchers capable of addressing quantum error correction, considered one of quantum computing's most significant technical challenges.

For 30 years, the MSCA programme has propelled research and innovation, supporting over 150,000 researchers, including 23 Nobel Prize laureates. As industry partners, Alice & Bob will bolster the network's research and training efforts, while Qubric will offer access to skilled talent and an academic network centered on fault-tolerant quantum computing.

Christophe Vuillot, a principal research scientist at Alice & Bob, highlighted, "Qubric unites leading universities, research institutes, and quantum companies to train researchers and bridge knowledge gaps, combining expertise in quantum information, coding theory, and hardware engineering."

This collaboration will be crucial in accelerating the development of useful, fault-tolerant quantum computers. Worldwide, there has been a surge in investment in quantum capabilities and technologies. In July, Quantinuum and Oracle signed a multi-year partnership to merge quantum computing with cloud infrastructure. Meanwhile, Swiss quantum company Zuriq secured a $25.5 million seed funding round, and Spanish firm Multiverse Computing closed a $570 million Series C funding round.

Also in July, the Irish Government unveiled its Quantum 2030 Implementation Plan, outlining strategies to achieve the targets set in the Quantum 2030 Strategy.
