Airbnb couple finds hidden camera in Spain stay

A British couple, Donna and Raymond Nunn, were expecting an anniversary trip in Madrid to be a memorable celebration. However, their 39th wedding anniversary turned into a terrifying ordeal when they discovered a hidden camera in their Airbnb bedroom.

The couple arrived at their accommodation on August 3, 2026, in Madrid's Lavapiés neighbourhood, where they noticed a security device in the living room. Initially, they assumed it was a switched-off camera, but the following day, Raymond noticed another device in their bedroom. The camera had a green light flashing and was positioned directly in front of their bed.

Donna, 62, and Raymond, 87, were left shaken upon discovering the hidden camera. They immediately contacted Airbnb, expressing their fear and requesting immediate action. Airbnb advised them to leave the property right away, but the couple faced the challenge of finding alternative accommodation locally.

The Nunn's experienced the cancellation of their well-planned anniversary trip, as they had to secure new lodging two hours south of Madrid. Donna expressed her disappointment, stating that their holiday was disrupted just two days after arriving and that they would never return to Madrid due to this unsettling incident.

Airbnb responded to the complaint, offering a full refund and suspending the listing while conducting an investigation. They also pointed out that their policy prohibits indoor security cameras in rental properties since 2024, regardless of whether the devices are installed and switched off during a guest's stay.
