Aiman Athirah: Claims over Dengkil PPR's delay, safety, cost inaccurate

PUTRAJAYA: Deputy Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu dismissed allegations against the Dengkil People's Housing Project, refuting claims of safety issues, delays, and inflated costs. The damage, reported on January 15, resulted from a severe storm that impacted 46 roof structures, she stated. An emergency allocation of RM263,000 was approved for repairs, which were evaluated and certified 100% safe for occupation before the Phase 2 key handover on April 2.

Addressing claims of a project delay of up to ten years, Aiman Athirah emphasized that the project received its Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) on December 31 under the current administration. The Ministry continued repair works even after the Defect Liability Period concluded on June 13. By April 2, 212 out of 393 residents had received their keys.

Regarding ownership costs, she clarified that the actual construction cost per unit exceeded RM215,000, but buyers only needed to pay RM20,000 to Perbadanan Nasional Bhd. The government absorbed a full subsidy of RM88 million. The project features high-quality facilities, with each 750 sq ft unit comprising three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The entire project secured a 100% CCC, proving it met all required standards before occupancy.
