3 cops arrested for alleged involvement in prisoner's escape in Rawalpindi

Three police officers, guards of the Adiala jail, have been arrested in connection with the escape of a prisoner while being transported from a court in Rawalpindi to Jhelum Jail. Assistant Sub-Inspector Tauqeer Hussain, Head Constable Mahboob Khan, and Constable Qasim were taken into custody on the orders of Rawalpindi City Police Officer Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera.

The escape occurred in the Mandra area on Tuesday, involving a prisoner named Hammad, who had a history of engaging in serious crimes. According to the police, Hammad and his accomplices had planned to move him in a private vehicle. When the Mandra police attempted to apprehend the suspects, Hammad and his associates opened fire on them.

Hammad managed to escape, while one of his accomplices, identified as Danial, was captured. A Kalashnikov was discovered in Danial's possession. Additionally, it was revealed that officials accompanying Hammad, including the three arrested officers, directed the driver to stop at a hotel. However, the driver had his suspicions and alerted the Mandra police.

Upon their arrival, the accomplices transferred Hammad to a private vehicle, which subsequently opened fire on the police. The police van was seized in the process. A case has been filed at the Mandra police station, invoking various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, the Police Order 2002, and the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997. Authorities are now conducting search operations and raids to locate Hammad.
