Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Fadil Marsus revealed that seven suspects were released on police bail on August 7 following an initial statement, while five others were detained until tomorrow. The incident involved 12 people, including four women among the detainees, who were found to have been involved in impersonating police officers and gangsters at a condominium in Kuala Lumpur.

The police chief was informed of the matter on August 1 by a 43-year-old Japanese man who claimed that a 38-year-old Taiwanese YouTuber was beaten and subsequently detained. The victim sustained injuries estimated to cost more than RM35,000. Following the investigation, eight men and four women aged between 26 and 48 were detained in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Kuala Lumpur.

Seven suspects were released on police bail on August 7 after providing information, while the remaining five are still being questioned under Section 170 and Section 395 of the Penal Code for impersonating public officials and gangsterism, respectively. The investigation found that the suspects' motive was that they knew the victim had a large amount of cash in foreign currency, which ultimately led to the crime, according to Harian Metro.
