Zuckerberg warns of risks from AI concentration in hands of few

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg warned on Monday that concentrating artificial intelligence technology in the hands of a few could lead to unfavorable outcomes for everyone. Speaking on the Meta website, Zuckerberg stated that the best way forward is to deliver superintelligence universally, noting that universal access to AI is crucial for a positive future.

However, he cautioned that if the power of superintelligence remains limited to a small number of individuals, businesses, governments, or AI itself, it could result in less favorable outcomes for the wider population. Zuckerberg acknowledged that no technological solution can cater to the differing interests and values of all people, and a singular superintelligence would have to prioritize certain values over others.

He proposed a balance of power approach, emphasizing the importance of universal access to AI. Zuckerberg also suggested that AI could become a tool for entrepreneurship, enabling businesses to be created without the need for external funding or large teams. He predicted that this would ultimately lead to job growth rather than job losses.

Additionally, he highlighted AI's potential to advance research in scientific fields like biology, potentially leading to new discoveries.
