Women's football shouldn't be penalised by Uefa boycott - Nandy

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy has stated that women's footballers should not face penalties for a potential boycott of next month's Under-20 Women's World Cup hosted by Poland. Uefa and its 55 member nations have threatened to boycott Fifa competitions due to president Gianni Infantino's plan to sell stakes in the World Cup. Poland has not received any notice of team withdrawals, and they believe the situation will be resolved quickly.

England, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and France are all participating in the tournament. Nandy believes Infantino should resign over the Fifa Forward Enterprise proposal, but she would not support a boycott of the Under-20 World Cup, arguing that it unfairly penalizes athletes and competitors. Former Fifa Council member Moya Dodd and independent expert Jane Purdon also expressed concerns about the concentration of power in Infantino's hands and the need for proper governance.
