Wike: I’m Not Lobbying to Be APC Presidential Campaign DG

Olawale Ajimotokan in Abuja reported that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has refuted claims that he was lobbying to become the Director-General (DG) or a member of the President’s Campaign Council for the All Progressives Congress (APC). The statement, made by Wike's Senior Special Assistant Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, came after reports in the media suggested that Wike was among the top party officials pushing for the role.

Wike, who is currently abroad, stated that he was resting and relaxing after completing several projects. He reiterated his support for President Bola Tinubu's reelection and emphasized that his contributions would be focused on delivering the President's mandate in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in Rivers State and the FCT.

Wike firmly stated that he did not discuss any potential leadership or membership in the Presidential Campaign Council with anyone, and thus, being the DG or a member of the council was not necessary for his role in the party's success.
