Why I’m backing Adeleke despite being ADC member — Dele Momodu

Chieftain Dele Momodu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has asserted his support for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party in the upcoming gubernatorial election, despite being a member of a rival opposition party. In a statement on Tuesday, Momodu emphasized the necessity for opposition parties to unite behind Adeleke for the August 15 election.

He clarified that his decision was based on opposition figures uniting against what they termed the "APC cankerworm" which he believed had severely impacted Nigeria's economy, social cohesion, religious tolerance, and democratic institutions. Momodu reaffirmed his ADC membership but stressed that his endorsement was not due to personal connections.

He praised Adeleke for his exceptional performance in infrastructure, health, education, and other key sectors, declaring the governor as a global figure capable of defeating President Bola Tinubu. Momodu cautioned opposition parties against providing the APC with a pretext to rig the election, thus urging them to stand united against the APC's influence.
