Warehouse fire shuts two runways at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport

A warehouse fire at the Louvres area, north of Paris, forced the closure of two runways at Charles de Gaulle airport on Tuesday afternoon. Despite the visible smoke for miles, air traffic remained unaffected according to French media reports. The blaze began around 3pm in a warehouse near the city's train station and involved numerous parked vehicles.

Over 80 firefighters and 38 fire engines responded to the emergency, with cautions issued by the regional fire brigade department. Thirty gendarmes were also deployed to the scene. Nearby municipalities advised residents to take precautions, including staying indoors and closing doors and windows. The airport, the largest in France, is situated 25km north of the city on a vast area of land.

The fire has also led to the temporary closure of a suburban train station and prompted bus rerouting.
