Two minor league free agent pitchers suspended for failed drug tests

Free agent minor league pitchers Luis Gomez and Julio Dilone received suspensions on Monday for failed drug tests, according to the minor league drug program. Gomez, a 21-year-old right-hander, was banned for 80 games, while Dilone, 26, faces a 60-game suspension. The suspensions will commence upon their signing with a major league organization.

Dilone was released by the San Diego Padres after the 2023 season and signed a minor league deal with Miami in June 2025. Gomez, who last pitched for the Florida Complex League Marlins, signed a minor league contract with Miami in June 2025 for a $10,000 bonus. This follows a total of eleven players being disciplined for drug violations this year, with Atlanta outfielder Jurickson Profar receiving a season-long suspension on March 3 for testing positive for exogenous testosterone.
