Trump to Attend Final Day of Patriot Games, Airing on ESPN+

President Donald Trump is set to attend the concluding day of the Patriot Games, a national youth sports competition held near Cleveland, Ohio today, as per his official schedule. The two-day event, which took place at the Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, features teenage athletes, a boy and a girl from each U.S. state, territory, and some tribal nations, competing in a blend of military-style endurance circuits and traditional playground sports like kickball and dodgeball. The winners of this competition will share a $250,000 college scholarship prize pool.

ESPN has been broadcasting the event on its ESPN+ streaming service, with live coverage and analysis led by prominent sports personalities such as Laura Rutledge, Jordan Rodgers, and Beth Mowins. The network is also set to air an hour-long primetime special on the event, which is scheduled to premiere on ESPN and ABC on Thursday, August 13 at 9 p.m. ET. However, ESPN has stated that they do not intend to broadcast any live cuts to President Trump's visit during the event.

According to an email invitation obtained by Front Office Sports, President Trump will be present at Spire Academy to participate in the ESPN on ABC special taping. Trump described the Patriot Games as "an unprecedented athletic event featuring the greatest high school athletes" in a video announcement earlier this year. Athletes were chosen through a video application process, where they answered questions about their aspirations and the role sports have played in their lives.

The competition is sponsored by Freedom 250, an organization established by the Trump Administration to commemorate America's 250th birthday, with a focus on large-scale celebrations, including sports events. Despite Freedom 250's historical involvement in sports-centric events, the decision to make the youth sports competition an annual event remains uncertain.
