Tigers Predicted to Sign Rays' Former All-Star Pitcher

According to FanSided's Christopher Kline, the Tigers might sign Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Freddy Peralta if he decides to enter the market. If Peralta is looking for a short-term, prove-it deal, the Tigers could view him as a valuable depth option with significant potential for a comeback, Kline noted.

It is reasonable to expect the Tigers to seek out starting pitchers following their trades of Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize ahead of the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline. Consequently, signing a former All-Star like Peralta would seem like a sensible move for them. Although Peralta had a challenging 2026 season, with a 5-9 record and a 5.37 ERA in 23 games, his performance last year with the Milwaukee Brewers stands out.

As a two-time All-Star, he posted a 17-6 record, a 2.70 ERA, and 204 strikeouts. This suggests that he could bounce back next season. With the Tigers in need of pitching, Peralta would be an intriguing choice for them to take a chance on.
