Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi placed on 15-day injured list with elbow inflammation

The Texas Rangers announced on Monday that right-hander Nathan Eovaldi has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to elbow inflammation. This decision was made before the team commenced a road series against the Los Angeles Angels. Eovaldi, who had been on the active roster throughout the season, was recalled alongside rookie right-hander Ben Peoples from Triple-A Round Rock.

The 36-year-old has accumulated 10 wins and 132 2/3 innings pitched this year. He had previously missed a start in May due to left side tightness. In his most recent start, Eovaldi pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing only one run and four hits before exiting after 86 pitches. Eovaldi has a career record of 45-25 with a 3.38 ERA in 98 regular-season starts since joining the Rangers in 2023.

Last season, he was 11-3 with a career-high 1.73 ERA before being sidelined for elbow inflammation and later suffering a rotator cuff strain, leading to an early season-ending stint on the injured list. The Texas native, a local product, joins fellow 2023 World Series champions Cody Bradford and Jordan Montgomery, who have also returned from elbow surgery.

Bradford is now in the starting rotation, while Montgomery has rejoined the bullpen after both underwent elbow surgery and hadn't pitched in the majors since 2024.
