Telangana HC vacates order over properties being acquired for Metro Corridor-VI

In a significant ruling, the Telangana High Court has vacated an earlier order that had restrained authorities from awarding properties for the execution of Metro Rail Project’s Phase-II Corridor-VI. The decision was made by Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar, who emphasized the importance of the project in providing an efficient and integrated public transportation facility for citizens and commuters.

The court observed that non-implementation of the project would defeat the purpose of establishing a seamless Metro Rail Network, adversely affecting the larger public interest. Justice Shravan Kumar cited a Supreme Court verdict, stating that matters such as determining the alignment and acquiring lands required for the Metro Rail Project should be finalized by authorities after conducting a comprehensive survey.

He emphasized that courts are not equipped to adjudicate on the technical viability or feasibility of such infrastructure projects or to determine the best alignment for the larger public interest.
