Heatwave gripping Egypt to end by Sunday: Egyptian Meteorological Authority

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) predicts that the heatwave gripping Egypt will conclude by Sunday, August 16, with temperatures dropping by up to six degrees Celsius, particularly during the night and early morning. The authority forecasted Tuesday's weather to be very hot and humid throughout the day, followed by slightly hot and humid conditions overnight.

Satellite imagery revealed intermittent wind activity in South Sinai, the Red Sea, the western coast, Greater Cairo, and southern Egypt from Wednesday to Saturday. The EMA noted that elevated humidity levels would intensify the perceived temperature by two to four degrees Celsius above the temperature in the shade, exacerbating the feeling of heat, especially during midday.

The agency urged the public to adhere to weather forecasts and updates, emphasizing the importance of driving cautiously in foggy conditions and staying well-hydrated. The EMA cautioned against prolonged sun exposure during peak hours, suggesting the use of loose, light, white cotton clothing, seeking shelter in well-ventilated and air-conditioned spaces whenever feasible, and refraining from leaving flammable substances unattended in parked vehicles exposed to sunlight.
