Teachers, pupils among 51 to testify in inquest into boy's death in school

In the inquest into the death of 10-year-old Iman Zhafran Abdullah, 51 witnesses have been appointed to provide testimony, according to Norazihah Asmuni, the officer handling the inquiry. The witnesses span a range of individuals connected to the incident, including educators, fellow students, and acquaintances of the young victim. The coroner Tasnim Abu Bakar acknowledged the witness list during a session at the Coroner's Court. Iman was found unconscious in a school restroom on October 2nd of last year.

The court has set seven dates for the inquest, which will begin at 2:30 pm. These dates include September 14th and 21st, October 5th, 6th and 7th, and October 21st and 28th. Lawyer Muhammad Yazid Mohamad Salim, representing Iman's relatives, sought permission for both his legal team and the family to interrogate the witnesses. He also asked for a court order to disclose any relevant documents, assuring the court that they would remain under strict control of the legal counsel and the family.

Iman's parents, Muhammad Hafizuddin Abdullah and Zuzita Murib Sagita, were present during the proceedings.

Initially, it was reported that Iman's cause of death was neck compression. However, a post-mortem examination of the boy found no additional physical injuries on his body, indicating his death was likely due to the compression.
