Spotify to unveil badge identifying AI music

Spotify plans to introduce a new "AI Persona" badge on September 15th, aimed at clearly labeling AI-generated music content on its platform. According to Spotify, listeners have expressed their preference for not encountering artificial intelligence profiles masquerading as human artists. The company's statement explained that this initiative aligns with the industry's growing apprehension regarding AI-generated music overpowering streaming libraries.

Earlier this year, Spotify unveiled the "Verified by Spotify" badge, a means of confirming that a profile has undergone review and adheres to their authenticity standards. In addition to artist profiles self-identifying as AI Personas, the platform will also begin applying these badges to relevant profiles.

However, Spotify will refrain from including AI Personas in editorial or personalized recommendations, unless a user specifically follows an AI Persona. The company emphasized that all content, including this new feature, will be governed by their strict content policies and will not be reproduced, published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed without explicit permission.
