Singapore rolls out ride perks to steer tourists into neighbourhoods

Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and ride-hailing app Grab have teamed up to incentivize tourists to venture beyond the city's typical downtown attractions and explore local neighbourhoods during the upcoming three months. The partnership involves the distribution of two additional ride vouchers to visitors who sign up for the Singapore Grab Travel Pass, which bundles transport, food, and activity discounts.

One voucher provides a 20 percent discount on rides to selected areas, while the other offers a one-time 20 percent reduction for trips to nightlife locations such as Holland Village, Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, and Robertson Quay between 7pm and 4am. This initiative coincides with major events like the Singapore River Festival and the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix, scheduled to run from August to October.

The STB aims to entice travelers to discover the city's diverse neighbourhoods "one pocket at a time," leveraging Grab's extensive regional reach to entice those planning their trips. The campaign aligns with the STB's broader effort to promote lesser-known attractions under the "We don't wait for fun" branding, targeting younger travelers across nine markets.

Singapore anticipates receiving 17 million to 18 million international visitors in 2026, with projected tourism expenditures ranging between US$31 billion (RM127 billion) and US$32.5 billion.
