Sheikh Jingir: I wonder how Tinubu’s Christian wife, son will feel – Baba Yusuf

Political strategist Baba Yusuf has raised concerns about the potential impact on the wife and son of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu after remarks made by Islamic cleric Sheikh Jingir. During an appearance on Arise News, Yusuf noted that while Sheikh Jingir aimed to promote the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he failed to consider the Christian faiths of the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, and the President's first son, Seyi.

Sheikh Jingir, while addressing a political gathering, claimed that Nigeria belonged to Muslims and called on those opposed to a Muslim-Muslim ticket to leave the country, labeling Christians as "infidels." Baba Yusuf, a fellow Muslim, rejected the idea that Sheikh Jingir's comments reflected the views of the broader Muslim community, emphasizing that such divisive rhetoric undermined the unity of the nation.

He expressed his disappointment at the reactions of other political figures and community leaders present, who seemed troubled by Jingir's inflammatory remarks. Yusuf urged for a more inclusive and tolerant approach to Nigeria's diverse population, questioning how President Tinubu, who leads a Christian household with a Christian son, could reconcile his stance with the harmful statements made by an Islamic cleric.
