Sheff Utd re-sign Man City's Phillips on loan

Sheffield United have re-signed Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips on a season-long loan deal, according to a report from the club's website. The 30-year-old joined the Blades on loan from City in February but only played three games due to a knee injury. Phillips transferred to City from Leeds United as a six-year, £45m contract in 2022 and was part of the team that achieved a historic Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup Treble that same year.

Phillips expressed his eagerness to help the Blades after his time was interrupted by injury. The former England international, who has fallen out of favor at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium, acknowledged that his return will be focused on regaining full fitness. Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder confirmed that discussions with Phillips throughout the summer indicated a mutual desire to make the loan move happen, despite the need for patience due to the complex nature of the deal.

The club's owner and CEO, Stephen Bettis, praised the persistence of those involved in finalizing the arrangement, emphasizing its significance to the football club.
