Seven-year-old Indonesian boy found drowned after falling into river in Subang Jaya

On August 11, a seven-year-old Indonesian boy tragically drowned after falling into a river while playing with friends in Subang Jaya, Malaysia. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) revealed that the child was discovered dead near Matahari Supermarket in Persiaran Subang Indah, approximately three kilometers from where he reportedly entered the water at 6:30 PM the previous day.

The body was promptly transported to the Fire Control Centre for identification by the boy's parents. It was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigative measures and subsequently taken to Serdang Hospital, where the operation concluded at 12:20 PM.

The incident was initially reported to the JBPM at 8:06 PM on the same day, leading to the rapid deployment of rescue personnel from the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Station and its Water Rescue Team (PPDA). Assistance also came from PPDA teams based in Shah Alam, Port Klang, KLIA, and Puchong stations. Given the swift river currents, rain upstream, and several natural rapids, the search and rescue operation had to be expanded beyond an eight-kilometer stretch downstream, encompassing three sectors from the incident site towards Sri Muda and Sungai Kandis.

The challenging conditions posed significant obstacles for the rescuers, who had to maneuver through strong currents, potential rain-induced speed increases, and navigable rapids.
