Saudi Arabia condemns Colombia’s recognition of Israel’s sovereignty over Occupied Syrian Golan Heights

In a statement, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs firmly condemned the Colombian government for recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. Describing the decision as "contrary to international law and relevant resolutions of international legitimacy," the Kingdom emphasized that it directly defies United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 497, passed in 1981.

This resolution explicitly declared Israel's imposition of its laws, jurisdiction, and administration over the Golan Heights as null and void, with no legal effect.

Saudi Arabia stressed that such positions are not conducive to achieving peace and instead diverge from the longstanding international stance on the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. The Kingdom further argued that these actions reinforce the logic of imposing "faits accomplis" and undermine peace efforts in the region. By calling the Golan Heights "occupied Arab Syrian territory," Saudi Arabia reiterated its position that any actions aiming to alter its legal status are meaningless and lack legitimacy.

The Ministry urged Colombia to reconsider its stance, align with international law and relevant resolutions, and continue working towards a secure, stable, and lasting peace in the region.
