Russian barrage on Ukraine kills 9, wounds dozens

Russian attacks across Ukraine overnight killed at least nine people and wounded dozens, according to Kyiv. The city of Zaporizhzhia bore the brunt of the assault, suffering six fatalities and 19 injuries from North Korean ballistic missiles and guided aerial bombs. This strike was deemed particularly malicious in its targeting of civilian infrastructure, as reported by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Dnipropetrovsk region also witnessed three deaths from Russian drones and missiles. Kyiv suffered indirect casualties with an infectious diseases hospital struck and power outages impacting several frontline cities, including Kherson and Kharkiv. A children's hospital was also targeted, though no harm came to its patients due to their sheltering at the time.

Russia claimed to have executed a high-precision ground-based weapon strike on Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia, targeting military-industrial enterprises and transport-logistics centers. Zelenskyy has recently heightened his concerns over escalating military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, urging Western nations to supply air-defense systems to counter Pyongyang's ballistic capabilities.
