PN boycotting duty to TH depositors, says Syed Saddiq

Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman criticized Perikatan Nasional (PN) MPs for boycotting the special Dewan Rakyat sitting to discuss the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji (TH). He emphasized that over 10 million Muslim depositors were expecting their MPs to fulfill their duties and find comprehensive solutions to protect their interests.

Syed Saddiq agreed that Anwar Ibrahim should answer questions once he recovers from illness, but stressed that the parliamentary responsibility should not be abandoned simply due to the Prime Minister's absence. He reminded the audience that MPs are well-compensated, and their pensions are guaranteed. However, he lamented that PN MPs had walked out of the hall in protest, allowing PAS-aligned Bersatu MPs to remain.

The RCI report, released on July 29, four years after the inquiry concluded in July 2022, revealed significant flaws in the pilgrims' fund's governance, investment, and financial management, urging a major overhaul of the organization.
