Royce White and Enes Kanter Freedom will never get drafted in the WNBA because they’re busted old losers

Her statements about safeguarding female athletes in the locker room, combined with her association with anti-trans activist Riley Gaines, have captivated the right-wing media. However, there is no real threat of trans women competing in the WNBA, as no trans women are currently playing in the NCAA who would be chosen in the 2027 WNBA draft.

Fox News attempted to fabricate a story by contacting Julie Tetart, a trans woman playing in the French second division, to gauge her interest in the draft. Tetart revealed she was too old (34) and lacked the necessary skills, but this did not deter Fox from presenting the story as a possibility. Later, Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White joined in on the deception by announcing they would declare for the WNBA draft.

This has led to the right wing becoming increasingly obsessed with the imagined threat of trans women in professional basketball, even going so far as to champion two men who are pretending to be trans to play in the WNBA. The situation is reminiscent of overreacting to a bomb threat by calling in a bomb, building one, and placing it in a lobby to justify their fear.

Riley Gaines is proud of her "contribution" to this farce, claiming she has provided the WNBA with a "brilliant 4D chess move" that forces the league to choose between defining what a woman is or allowing Kanter Freedom and White to play. However, the reality is that the league should simply ignore these two failed athletes, not because they are men, but because they are undraftable.

Kanter Freedom and White are 34 and 35 years old, respectively, and the WNBA's entry-level contract is for four years. This would mean committing to an old player until they are almost 40, rather than selecting a younger prospect who could be developed within the team. Furthermore, their basketball abilities are questionable. Kanter Freedom's career had a decline, and he was a bench player with no perimeter defense and a poor three-point shooting percentage.

White, on the other hand, has a restraining order against him for abusing his wife and son, making him a potential threat to the women in the league.
