Qatar says Oman-Iran talks reach advanced stage

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed al-Ansari, announced on Tuesday that talks between Oman and Iran have reached an advanced stage. The negotiations are at a "critical juncture," according to al-Ansari. Qatar, acting as mediators, is keen to see the Strait of Hormuz reopened as soon as possible. Both Oman and Iran have provided positive feedback to Qatar, and Doha supports any arrangement that ensures the Strait of Hormuz's security and freedom of navigation.

Following the ministry's statement, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) Oil experienced a sharp decline, dropping from an intraday high of $83.57 to around $81. WTI Oil, a benchmark for the oil market, trades as "light" and "sweet" crude due to its low gravity and sulfur content. It is primarily sourced in the United States and distributed via the Cushing hub, known as "The Pipeline Crossroads of the World."

The fall in WTI Oil price can be attributed to the Middle East impasse, as surging oil prices have reignited inflation concerns. This, in turn, has lent support to the US Dollar, causing the non-yielding gold and Bitcoin to retreat from their highs. The US Dollar's strength is partially driven by global growth, political instability, wars, sanctions, and OPEC's decisions on production quotas.

The weekly Oil inventory reports from the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Energy Information Agency (EIA) also impact WTI Oil prices.
