PPA S.A.: 10 Years of COSCO SHIPPING’s Strategic Investment – A Decade of Transformation for the Port of Piraeus

PPA S.A. commemorates a decade since COSCO SHIPPING's strategic investment, which has transformed the Port of Piraeus into a dynamic, multi-purpose hub in the Mediterranean. Throughout this period, the Piraeus Port Authority has grown exponentially, excelling in multiple sectors. Container throughput growth propelled Piraeus from a regional port to a leading transshipment center.

The cruise sector also flourished, with passenger traffic surging and new record highs. Ship repair works are ongoing to upgrade the Perama Ship Repair Zone. The Car Terminal, serving as Greece's main vehicle import gateway, saw infrastructure expansion completion. Piraeus maintains Europe’s largest ferry terminal, supporting island connectivity.

Beyond infrastructure, the port has contributed to job creation, local economic growth, and community integration. ESG criteria have been systematically integrated into operations, with investments in environmental infrastructure and marine protection. The PPA Park, a green and recreational space for Piraeus citizens, highlights the company’s commitment to community engagement.
