The Crown Prince of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, recently completed the launch of the Promoting Perlis Cuisine event in Melbourne, Australia. The ceremony, held at Roti Bar, served as a platform to showcase the unique culinary heritage of the small state to international audiences. This initiative aims to strengthen Perlis' identity by emphasizing its distinct traditions, cultural assets, and tourism potential.

During the event, the Crown Prince announced the upcoming 2026 International Water Festival in Kuala Perlis, which will highlight the city's dynamic coastal destination, as well as its maritime heritage, cultural identity, and local community life. The festival will feature activities such as Dragon Boat and Traditional Boat races, Rural Sports Day, Food Culture Festival, and a Local Craft Exhibition.

Additionally, the Crown Prince launched the "Promote Perlis Cuisine" campaign for a month, starting from September 1st. This campaign serves as a medium to introduce the state's unique culinary heritage to international communities through food diplomacy. The event will not only introduce traditional dishes but also highlight Perlis' cultural and culinary arts on the international stage, opening up opportunities for Australians and international communities to appreciate the diversity of the state's culinary heritage.

The Promote Perlis Cuisine campaign has received support from local entrepreneurs in Melbourne through Roti Bar, a popular restaurant owned by Chef Ray Ulaganathan and Julin Tan, which has been operating for nine years. Local business involvement is seen as a way to further introduce Perlis' culinary heritage to international communities while strengthening cultural ties between Malaysia and Australia through food diplomacy.
