Pelaburan TH dalam laporan RCI sudah jalani audit forensik, kata Zulkifli

Menteri Hal Ehwal Agama Zulkifli Hasan confirmed that an audit has been conducted on the Tabung Haji (TH) investments listed in the Suruhanjaya Siasatan Diraja (RCI) report. He also mentioned that the government is considering the establishment of a Multi-Agency Task Force to investigate high-risk investments in TH, as proposed by some MPs, including former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

The audit of TH investments has been completed, and the government is contemplating the creation of a special task force to examine each investment that could result in losses. In a separate development, Finance Minister Amir Hamzah Azizan informed the House that seven out of 14 known TH investments resulted in a total loss of nearly RM13 billion.

The government has incurred a loss of RM10.2 billion through rescue efforts in 2018, while TH absorbed an additional RM2.6 billion between 2018 and 2025. Zulkifli also stated that the government is strengthening the Tabung Haji Act, including provisions for accounting standards and penalties for financial statement misreporting.

Since 2022, TH has announced profits based on audited annual financial statements. Furthermore, Zulkifli explained that the government is enabling TH to implement the proposed measures while providing time for the organization to recover, as TH had faced a crisis in 2019 when nearly RM6 billion in deposits were withdrawn within a short period.

The government chose to give TH the space to revive the institution before disclosing the RCI report to the public, as 75% of the RCI recommendations have been implemented. Zulkifli also addressed the delay in releasing the RCI report, suggesting that it should have been disclosed to the Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob in July 2022.

The government plans to amend the Tabung Haji Act 1995 soon to enhance the administrative reforms already implemented.
