PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim says lawyers handling Anwar’s defamation suit

Kota Bharu, August 11 — PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man stated that his legal team would handle the defamation lawsuit filed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The contested remarks at the heart of the case are general in nature and have been raised by other parties as well, according to Tuan Ibrahim.

"I have entrusted the matter to my lawyers," he explained. The Prime Minister initiated the legal action at the High Court on Monday, alleging that Tuan Ibrahim's comments during a political speech in Pahang were false and defamatory. Anwar's counsel, Datuk Sankara Nair, confirmed that the remarks were not only defamatory but also involved their publication and republication via video recordings and social media platforms such as YouTube and Facebook, as well as Tuan Ibrahim's Facebook page. The lawsuit encompasses allegations of both slander and libel.
