Osun 2026: ‘Cheap blackmail’ – Bashir Ahmad tackles Davido over comment on APC

Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad has dismissed the comment made by afrobeats star Davido as "cheap blackmail" in the context of the upcoming Osun state governorship election on August 15. Davido had expressed his support for a different political party, labeling those who back the All Progressives Congress (APC) as enemies of progress.

In response to this comment, Ahmad took to X, stating that individuals have the inherent right to vote for whichever party they prefer. He also noted that his uncle, who has been governing Osun for four years, has had ample opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities and that the people of Osun should now exercise their judgment accordingly.

Ahmad's comments come in the wake of a heated online feud between the two, with Ahmad predicting that Davido would later express disappointment over the election results on X. Conversely, Davido criticized Ahmad for being an inexperienced politician, challenging him to identify any achievements he has made during his tenure as a presidential aide for eight years.
