‘Not from us’ – Kano varsity disowns Emir Sanusi ‘carry over’ video

Northwest University Kano has firmly distanced itself from a circulating video that alleged the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, participated in lecture sessions to resolve a carry-over issue. A statement issued on Tuesday by the university's Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Ibrahim, labeled the video as false, baseless, and misleading.

The statement clarified that the video depicted the Emir attending a public lecture organized by the International Humanitarian Law Society at the university. It further asserted that some social media users had added narratives suggesting the Emir had an academic shortfall and had approached the university for resolution. The university management emphatically distanced itself from the video, write-ups, and the associated allegations, stating categorically that the claim was entirely false, baseless, misleading, and devoid of any factual basis.

The institution urged the university community and the public to disregard the video, write-ups, and related claims, cautioning against the creation, publication, or dissemination of what it termed as false and defamatory content.
