NCAA gives update on aviation unions strike

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has provided an update regarding the ongoing strike by aviation unions. The source of the dispute is set to be addressed once the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, returns from his official trip abroad. A statement released by the Director, General Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Ona Najomo, called for the unions to cease their industrial action.

The NCAA is aware of the ongoing strike and its impact on passengers and other stakeholders. The issue of aviation unions' strike was scheduled to be discussed in a meeting convened by the Honourable Minister last week, however, the meeting could not take place as the airline operators declined the invitation. The NCAA has assured the public that flight safety remains uncompromised, stating that it continues to uphold its statutory safety oversight responsibilities.

The agency has appealed for dialogue and cooperation, expressing confidence that the matter will be resolved soon, allowing normal flight operations to resume as soon as possible. The NCAA regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers and appreciates their patience and understanding.
