MyGOV To Get Agentic AI Assistant; Beta Rollout Later This Month

The Malaysian Ministry of Digital has announced that the MyGOV platform will soon feature an agentic AI-powered assistant. This innovative technology will enable Malaysians to interact with government services using natural language, streamlining the process and potentially enabling the system to perform certain tasks on behalf of the user.

The agentic AI, unlike traditional AI, possesses the ability to understand context, devise appropriate actions, and interact with multiple digital services, all while adhering to user consent and established permissions.

With the agentic AI in place, users will no longer need to know which specific government agency or website handles their issue. Instead, they can simply describe what they want to accomplish using straightforward language. The AI will then identify the relevant service and provide guidance on the necessary steps. In some cases, the system could even execute the required actions within the relevant government systems.

An example mentioned by the ministry is the handling of police summonses, where the assistant would guide the user from the summons payment menu to completion.

The Ministry of Digital emphasized that this approach aims to reduce the complexity of dealing with multiple government agencies and systems. The implementation of agentic AI will occur in phases, with a strong focus on security, data privacy, information accuracy, transparency, and human control. The deployment of this technology will also be subject to the government's existing AI governance framework and guidelines for adopting AI in the public sector.

As of July 2026, MyGOV had already surpassed 2.9 million users and offered 52 services from 19 government agencies. The ministry stated that it will collaborate with relevant ministries and agencies to ensure the safe and responsible deployment of this technology across the government digital ecosystem.
