Menteri batal larangan memoir Shamsiah Fakeh

Former Malaysian Communist Party leader Shamsiah Fakeh's memoir, "From Trousers to Regime 10," was banned by the government in February for containing communist elements and ideology. Prime Minister of Malaysia, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, has now cancelled the ban on the memoir. The government also cancelled the ban on another PKM book, "Komrad Asi (Regime 10): In Denial of Nihilistic History," by Aziz Suriani.

Chong Ton Sin publishing house had filed a petition in the High Court to challenge the ban, but their lawyer S Abhilaash said they withdrew the petition. Petaling Jaya MP from PKR, Lee Chean Chung, and Bandar Utama MP from DAP, Jamaliah Jamaluddin, who are Shamsiah's grandchildren, previously criticized the ban. Jamaliah reportedly said the memoir focused on her grandmother's life and experiences without inciting extremism, and she was disappointed with the government's irrational decision.
