Man dies after car carrying rice sacks crashes into ditch in Tanah Merah

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — A 39-year-old man lost his life following a tragic accident on the East-West Highway in Tanah Merah, Kelantan. The unfortunate incident occurred when the Proton Wira he was driving, laden with rice sacks, skidded and overturned into a ditch along Kampung Batu 9, Batang Merbau. The Kemahang Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call via NG999 at 11.44pm, as reported by Sinar Harian.

Upon their arrival at the scene at 11.50pm, firefighters discovered the overturned Proton Wira and found the Malay male driver trapped inside the driver's seat. Utilizing hydraulic cutting equipment, the firefighters successfully extricated the victim before transferring him to medical personnel. Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains were handed over to the police for further investigation. The rescue operation, involving five firefighters, concluded at 12.28am.
