Man dies after car carrying rice sacks crashes into ditch in Tanah Merah

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — A 39-year-old man tragically lost his life when his Proton Wira, loaded with rice sacks, collided with a ditch on the East-West Highway in Kampung Batu 9, Batang Merbau, Tanah Merah, Kelantan, last night. The Kemahang Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call via NG999 at 11.44pm, as reported by Sinar Harian.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 11.50pm and discovered the overturned Proton Wira in the ditch. The 39-year-old Malay male driver was trapped in the driver's seat. Firefighters utilized hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate the victim before transferring him to medical personnel. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains were handed over to the police for further investigation. The rescue operation, involving five firefighters, concluded at 12.28am.
