Mahabaleshwar trip turns fatal for 4 Pune friends as SUV crashes into truck

An unfortunate accident in Maharashtra's Satara district claimed the lives of four young friends from Pune and injured two others early Tuesday morning. The group of four men from Kamshet in Maval taluka had embarked on a trip to the Mahabaleshwar hill station when the fatal incident occurred around 1.10 am on National Highway-48, near Shirwal.

Police officials stated that the driver of the SUV lost control, collided with a divider, and overturned before crashing into a truck. The four deceased victims, all residents of Kamshet, have been identified as Vedant Arjun Waringe, Sonling Dhirendra Thakur, Aditya Balasaheb Garud, all 19 years old, and Nikhil Balu Raut, 20. Two others, Dikshit Dayanand Pujari and Mayur Hanumant Shinde, both 20, sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Local police and Highway Police Assistance Centre personnel responded to the scene after receiving reports of the accident. The damaged SUV and the truck were eventually removed from the road using a crane, and traffic was restored on the highway. Authorities are conducting further legal proceedings in connection with the unfortunate incident.
