Lok Sabha Om Birla urges Opposition to end Parliament logjam

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has urged the Opposition to cooperate and end the ongoing logjam in Parliament. Following the government's decision to debate student issues, Birla's appeal comes as part of a personal initiative to restore smooth proceedings. At the recent Business Advisory Committee (BAC) session, the Speaker requested all opposition parties to put an end to the disruptions that have plagued the House for two weeks.

Birla pointed out that the government has agreed to the Opposition's primary demand - a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. However, the government has not yet conceded to the Opposition's other demand, which is a debate on the Ram Mandir donation theft case. Despite multiple appeals from the Speaker, the Opposition remains steadfast in their demand for a discussion on the police excess against students at Jantar Mantar.
