특검, ‘윤석열 계엄 생중계’ 이은우 전 KTV 원장 불구속 기소

The Supreme Special Investigation Team (S-SIT), which continues to investigate the three remaining cases from the 3rd Special Investigation Team, recently indicted former KTV owner and K-Political Broadcasting Station (K-TV) president Eun Sik-yeol for allegedly organizing and promoting an act of rebellion during the national emergency declaration made by former President Yoon Suk-yeol.

The S-SIT announced that Eun was charged with reckless endangerment due to his alleged role in disseminating information that falsely justified the act of rebellion and selectively blocked or removed opposing viewpoints, leading to public support for the rebellion.

According to the S-SIT, the act of rebellion is considered a single, comprehensive criminal act that took place between December 3, 2024, when Eun received the order from the President's office about the emergency declaration, and December 14, 2024, when the emergency declaration was lifted. The indictment alleges that Eun instructed his broadcasting studio to exclude the phrase "emergency is illegal and unconstitutional" from the President's speech during the emergency declaration, which was broadcast through K-TV's dedicated channel and relayed to other broadcasters. This decision, according to the S-SIT, aimed to shape public opinion in favor of the rebellion.

The S-SIT previously indicted Eun in December last year under the charge of misuse of authority for allegedly instructing the K-TV editing team to remove any mention of politics, parties, the National Assembly, or the judiciary from the news coverage during the emergency declaration. At the time, Eun reportedly instructed the studio's head of broadcasting production to focus solely on presenting facts and omitting any political commentary from the coverage, except for statements deemed to be factual reports.

This indictment followed Eun's previous 5-month prison term in May, for which the same court sentenced him to five years of imprisonment and ordered a two-year suspended sentence in a subsequent hearing.
