Gombe PDP offers Goje Senate ticket to support Pantami

Gombe State is witnessing efforts to persuade Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to aid its gubernatorial candidate, Prof Ali Isa Pantami. Former Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and Pantami's candidate have been urging Goje to switch parties since it became apparent that the APC would not award him their ticket.

The PDP believes that Goje's supporters and political allies in the state's three senatorial districts will strengthen the party's prospects and facilitate Pantami's victory in February 2027. Goje, who served two terms as Gombe's governor, did not secure the APC's senatorial nomination in the primary election. He challenged the declared winner, DCP Mohammed Ahmed, as the results were declared fake, claiming the true results would be announced in Abuja.

However, Goje is now reportedly considering joining the PDP to retain his Senate seat. Both the PDP and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are reportedly pursuing Goje, who is recognized as the political mentor of numerous political figures in the state.
