K-pop influencer Mina Chan dies during TikTok livestream after facing backlash from fans

Mina Chan, a 26-year-old K-pop influencer and devoted fan of the band ENHYPEN, lost her life during a TikTok live broadcast on August 5 due to suicide. A South Korean social media personality, Chan had amassed over 80,000 followers on the platform. According to PageSix, her livestream took a concerning turn where viewers urged authorities to step in.

The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul discovered her lifeless body around 5:33 am following a tip-off from one of her acquaintances. Police are currently probing the circumstances surrounding her death. Chan's younger sister shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, expressing her sorrow and requesting prayers for her beloved sister.

In the days leading up to her death, Chan faced intense criticism from ENHYPEN fans after an incident at the group's US concert last month. The controversy arose when Chan attempted to pass flowers to fellow member Ni-ki, who is also Japanese, a move some fans deemed as overstepping boundaries. In response, Chan penned a lengthy apology on X (formerly Twitter) on July 31, acknowledging that her actions had taken advantage of Sunoo's kindness.

She expressed deep regret for her rude behavior during the fansigns and the impact it had on the venue's atmosphere. Despite her apology, Chan continued to receive hateful comments and criticism online. Her devoted followers and the wider internet community have paid tribute to her kindness, with many expressing their sadness over her untimely passing and wishing her peace in the afterlife.
