Jackie the Bald Eagle, social media star of California for a decade, leaves ‘heartbroken’ fans behind with her death

Jackie, a bald eagle that captivated internet users for a decade as a California symbol of species recovery, passed away on Monday. She had been under treatment for illness at a veterinary facility since being found by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation's San Dimas Raptor Rescue team. Jackie had been ill for three weeks at the Ojai Raptor Center, where she was treated for anemia, anemia, and various other ailments.

Despite receiving a blood transfusion, oxygen therapy, and other medical interventions, her condition deteriorated and she died on Monday. The Friends of Big Bear Valley, who installed a nest camera for nature lovers to watch the bird and her partner Shadow tend to their nest atop trees near Big Bear Lake, announced the news. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is now caring for her remains.
