Israeli settler who took part in brutal assault on Palestinians released from house arrest

An Israeli settler, Tal Yinon Dardik, who participated in a violent assault on Palestinians in the West Bank, has been released from house arrest. The incident took place on March 13, 2023, when Dardik and other settlers attacked the Palestinian community of Khirbet Humsa, binding victims with zip-ties, beating them with wooden sticks, and threatening their lives. One victim, Qusai Abu al-Kebash, was stripped, his genitals bound, and paraded in front of his family.

Dardik had been staying at his mother-in-law's house in the settlement of Adei Ad, but the Jerusalem District Court ruled the location infeasible, as her family didn't want him there. The court released him from house arrest, but he now must report to a police station twice a day. This decision came after Dardik's mother-in-law's objection to the arrangement.

Dardik denied involvement in the attack when it occurred. An American activist who witnessed the assault reported that six masked settlers armed with heavy wooden sticks attacked the community, beating residents, including women, children, and the elderly. Several residents confirmed the assault lasted about an hour and involved dozens of masked settlers.
