iOS 27 beta 5 adds option to upgrade iCloud+ subscription for more AI
iOS 27 beta 5 arrived this week , and it includes confirmation of something Apple has hinted before: paying for higher iCloud+ tiers unlocks more access to Apple Intelligence features.
iOS 27 beta 5 brings a new option for upgrading iCloud+ subscriptions to unlock enhanced Apple Intelligence features. For iCloud+ and Apple One subscribers, the update will offer more access to AI features with usage limits, such as image generation, and new HomeKit Secure Video capabilities for cameras. However, the specific limits vary based on the iCloud+ plan.
In the Home app, the Apple Intelligence section now displays the number of cameras supported by the selected plan for AI summaries. Upgrading to a higher iCloud+ tier, such as 2TB or 12TB, appears to provide more AI summaries for cameras, as well as increased usage for other AI features. CEO Tim Cook previously hinted at tying AI feature limits to iCloud+ plans during the last Apple earnings call.
