I paid over N80bn inherited pension debt, delivered beyond expectations — Adeleke

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has revealed that his administration paid over N80 billion in inherited pension debts and more than two-thirds of the half-salary arrears. During a town hall meeting organized by Arise TV for candidates in the upcoming governorship election on August 15, Adeleke boasted that his administration has exceeded expectations and highlighted his administration's achievements and plans for the next four years if re-elected.

He emphasized his commitment to workers' welfare, stating that providing for public workers is the government's first responsibility. The governor shared that his administration has paid over two-thirds of the half-salary debt and over N80 billion of inherited pension debt, while also reforming the public service. Adeleke won the 2022 governorship election as a candidate of the Accord Party, previously belonging to the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor listed several accomplishments under his leadership, including the construction of 350 kilometres of roads, three flyover bridges, six dualized roads, rehabilitation of over 200 primary healthcare centres, rehabilitation of 150 schools, establishment of the University of Ilesa, purchase of 31 new tractors, and disbursement of close to N2 billion in cooperative funds.

He also called out the Nigeria Police Force for alleged involvement in the gubernatorial election, urging President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to ensure a free and fair election.
